Tornike Paghava, the Deputy Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday said Georgia expects clear steps and practical tools from the United States to renew and reboot bilateral relations following a recent statement by the US State Department.
Paghava’s comments came after the US State Department delegation has issued an official statement, published by the US Embassy in Georgia, noting “the Trump administration’s readiness to engage in a constructive, forward-looking relationship with the Government of Georgia, and its interest in starting a new phase in bilateral relations between sovereign partners based on mutual respect, shared interests, and honest dialogue”.
“Of course, we expect clear steps and practical tools from them regarding the renewal and reset of relations between the United States and Georgia”, he said.
“As for the second part of the statement, which refers to the opposition’s participation in democratic institutions, it clearly states that the radical opposition’s radical actions are damaging the state, as well as the radical opposition itself and the people who voted for its representatives”, Paghava concluded.
