Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Monday positively assessed the US State Department’s recent statement on the restoration of Georgia-US relations.
In his remarks, Volski noted that the Georgian government welcomes the return of relations to the norms of what was called a strategic relationship.
“The messages are quite visible and worth considering. We welcome the return of this relationship to the norms of what is called a strategic relationship, but filled with content, this is what was discussed in the statement. The opposition should pay attention (if they do not fall into hysterics again because of this message) to the fact that the stability of the country will decide the future of this country and the broad spectrum of cooperation that was voiced by the US delegation”, he said.
Following a series of meetings with Georgian Government officials and opposition leaders between May 25 and 28, the US State Department delegation has issued an official statement, published by the US Embassy in Georgia.
The statement outlines the Trump administration’s readiness to initiate a new chapter in bilateral relations.
