At a ceremonial event dedicated to Police Day, Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Sulkhan Tamazashvili addressed law enforcement officers, highlighting the importance and meaning of the policing profession.
In his speech, Tamazashvili emphasized that national security is built and strengthened daily through the dedication and sacrifice of police officers.
He noted that Police Day is not only a professional observance, but also a symbol of loyalty, devotion, and courage.
“Today we are celebrating a day that is not just a professional date. Police Day is a symbol of loyalty, devotion, and courage. This day is especially significant for me, as I have the honor of standing before you for the first time in the capacity of minister, although first and foremost I stand here as a police officer”, he said.
He added that wearing the police uniform carries a deep sense of responsibility and self-sacrifice.
“I know what it means to wear a police uniform. I know how much dedication and responsibility stands behind each police officer. Being a police officer means prioritizing the lives and safety of others above your own”, the Minister continued.
The Minister also paid tribute to fallen officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their names and sacrifice will remain part of the country’s history and national dignity.
“I bow to the memory of our heroic police officers who sacrificed their lives in service of the homeland. Their names and their sacrifice will always remain part of our state’s dignity and history. Please let us honor the eternal memory of our fallen police officers”, he stated.
He concluded by stressing that policing is more than a profession, describing it as a choice to serve the state and stand where the country needs protection the most. “That is why you should be proud that Georgia’s security is built and strengthened daily through your dedication”, he added.
