Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said that what had been damaged by the unfairness of the previous United States administration could only be corrected through the fair approach of the new administration.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze noted that meetings were held this week where his Government once again reaffirmed to its American partners its readiness to reset relations and renew the strategic partnership through a concrete roadmap, while expecting reciprocal steps.
“We held meetings throughout this week, quite interesting meetings, where we discussed various issues related to resetting Georgian-American relations. Of course, we are expecting further continuation. Once again, we confirmed to our American partners our readiness to reset relations and renew the strategic partnership with a concrete roadmap. This is our very clear message, which we once again shared with our American partners, and we are expecting reciprocal steps from their side”, Kobakhidze said.
Kobakhidze emphasised that many things had been damaged in Georgian-American relations, and that all of it had been the result of unfair actions by the previous administration.
“We also shared our views with them regarding how we are preparing for the October 2028 elections. We have publicly stated that we are already preparing for the 2028 elections, and we also discussed this with our American partners. Many things were damaged in Georgian-American relations, and all of it was the result of the unfairness of the previous administration”, he continued
“You remember how unfairly the previous administration acted. We spoke about this sincerely with representatives of the new administration. What was damaged by unfairness can only be corrected through fair relations. We are ready to reset relations. I will repeat once again, what was damaged by the unfairness of the previous administration can only be corrected through the fair approach of the new administration. This is one of the main messages we shared with our American partners”, Kobakhidze concluded.
