Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday congratulated Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on the country’s Independence Day, sending warmest wishes for the well-being of Georgia and the unity of hearts.
In a congratulatory letter, Leo XIV noted that he was praying before the Lord that the Georgian fellow citizens might continue to find new inspiration in their service to the common good of the nation.
“On the occasion of your National Day, I send Your Excellency my warmest wishes for the well-being of your country and the unity of hearts. I pray before the Lord that your fellow citizens may continue to find ever new inspiration in their service to the common good of the nation. May they remain peacemakers, sensitive to the cry of the poor, and creative in charitable works to alleviate their suffering. May Almighty God, through the intercession of Saint Nino, grant Georgians the right to live in safety and peace. I sincerely invoke divine blessings upon Your Excellencies, upon all those responsible for public affairs, and upon the entire Georgian people”, the letter said.
