Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Tuesday congratulated Georgian citizens on Independence Day, stressing the importance of protecting the country’s sovereignty.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the main obligation of the Foreign Ministry and Georgian diplomats is to defend the country’s interests and represent Georgia with dignity on the international stage.
“First of all, congratulations to every citizen of Georgia on today’s occasion. I wish everyone to live in a united and free Georgia, a country for which we should never tire of working and striving. The Foreign Ministry is the institution responsible for protecting the country’s interests beyond Georgia’s borders, and diplomats, of course, have a special responsibility to care for and present our homeland, which I believe they are doing successfully”, she said.
“All the values our country possesses abroad are especially delicate, and it is important to protect them properly. Today, we often speak about safeguarding our country’s sovereignty. This is precisely one of the key responsibilities of Georgian diplomats - to care for and work toward protecting our country’s sovereignty, which is the guarantee of our freedom and independence”, Botchorishvili concluded.
