Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday criticised the European Union's current foreign policy direction, stating that it not only harms others but ultimately damages the EU itself.
Speaking to reporters, Papuashvili specifically pointed to Kaja Kallas, the EU's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, as the embodiment of this flawed approach.
“We all see the foreign policy that the EU has and which Kaja Kallas personifies. There is dissatisfaction toward her within the EU, and the US secretary of state does not even meet with her. Unfortunately, Kaja Kallas is the face of EU foreign policy today”, the speaker said.
He further drew parallels between Kallas’s current role and previous actions by Estonian officials regarding Georgia's internal affairs.
“Just as the Estonian foreign minister stood here at rallies, the European Union today has a foreign policy of the exact same philosophy. Aside from harming others, it primarily harms itself”, Papuashvili concluded.
