Georgian justice minister Paata Salia on Sunday said that Georgia is a centuries-old nation whose traditions have played a central role in shaping its development up to the present day, emphasising that respect for family and parents remains one of the country’s core cultural values.
In his remarks over the Family Purity and Respect for Parents Day, Salia stressed that the government would do everything possible to ensure that there are as many strong families in the country as possible.
The minister further acknowledged that traditional values face major challenges worldwide today.
“We see that today there are very significant challenges in the world regarding traditional values, and we are pleased that there is such unity in Georgia on this issue. Of course, it is important that young people and the new generation also understand and embrace these traditions inherited from our ancestors, and that these traditions are passed down from generation to generation. A strong family is the backbone and foundation of a strong state, and our government will always do its utmost to ensure that there are as many strong families in Georgia as possible”, Salia concluded.
