At a ceremony held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi, Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said that, under divine protection and the spiritual leadership of the Patriarch Shio III, Georgia would firmly defend Christianity, Orthodoxy, and the values that define the essence of the Georgian nation.
Speaking about this year’s Family Purity Day observances, Kobakhidze noted that it is particularly significant as it marked the first solemn liturgy led by His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III, who, according to Kobakhidze, was elected as Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia by the will of God, in accordance with the testament of Ilia II and with the support of the Holy Synod.
The prime minister emphasised that under God’s protection and the Patriarch’s spiritual leadership, Georgia would resolutely safeguard Christianity, Orthodoxy, and the core values that define the Georgian nation’s identity and substance.
“Under the protection of God and the spiritual leadership of the Patriarch, we will firmly defend Christianity, Orthodoxy, and all the values that form the essence and identity of the Georgian nation. May God bless our Mother Church, may God bless our Catholicos-Patriarch, may God bless our homeland, our nation, and our people”, Kobakhidze said.
