Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the first vice speaker of the Parliament, on Friday said that the forceful dispersal of a protest in Copenhagen demonstrated what he described as a biased approach by some European actors toward Georgia.
Volski commented on the dispersal of a protest in Copenhagen, where Danish police used physical force against demonstrators.
In his remarks, the official noted that the protest was dispersed “using extremely strict and very harsh measures”, which, in his view, highlighted inconsistency in how European actors assess similar events in Georgia.
“They dispersed this rally using extremely strict and very harsh measures, which gives us grounds to think that there is a biased attitude toward Georgia, one that has serious political content and motivation behind it”, Volski said.
The protest in Copenhagen involved pro-Palestinian activists who organised a blockade outside the headquarters of Maersk. Danish police reportedly dispersed the demonstration and detained around 20 participants.
