Certain members of the European Parliament have admitted to conducting a months-long campaign targeting the Georgian television company Imedi.
Among those involved is Polish MEP Krzysztof Brejza, who was assisted by Elene Metreveli, the Eastern Policy Coordinator for the Institute for Politics and Society (IPP) - an organisation closely allied with the opposition United National Movement party.
Metreveli herself publicly confirmed the collaboration on social media, detailing her close ties not only with the IPP and various MEPs but also with figures from Georgia's radical opposition.
Through numerous photographs published on her social media accounts, Metreveli has openly showcased her connections to the domestic opposition and European lawmakers known for their critical stance toward the Georgian government.
Furthermore, she did not hide her involvement in the European Parliament's recent decision to suspend Imedi TV’s journalistic credentials, explicitly claiming the move as a personal achievement.
The European Parliament recently restricted Imedi TV from performing its professional duties within the parliament building for a period of one year. This new revelation suggests that the decision was the culmination of a coordinated, months-long effort involving European politicians and local opposition-linked actors.
