Nino Tsilosani, the vice speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday dismissed the opposition’s planned rally for Independence Day on May 26, stating that any attempts to create unrest or stage “destructive scenarios” are bound to fail.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Tsilosani warned that the state would not tolerate any destabilisation.
“I don’t know who they are trying to scare with this rally. As they come out, so they will go back in. In any case, they certainly cannot hope to organise a large-scale, crowded protest. If they have any destructive scenarios in mind, they should definitely not hope that these scenarios will succeed either. This is because recent developments have shown that their destruction and harmful scenarios no longer work”, she said.
“Of course, anyone who wants to celebrate Independence Day should join in. However, these foreign agents and traitors have absolutely no place out there on May 26, our nation's Independence Day. Their entire moral compass and efforts are geared toward making our country dependent on someone else - enslaving it to odious states, odious individuals, foreign leaders, and foreign interests; that is what they are all about. Given that, I highly doubt they are celebrating May 26. Still, they will certainly try, or at least want, to put up some sort of a last-ditch struggle to show they are still around”, Tsilosani concluded.
