Georgian parliament vice speaker Giorgi Kakhiani on Thursday said that resolutions adopted by the European Parliament are “filled with fake and perception-based information”, while Imedi TV is trying to provide the public with accurate information.
Kakhiani’s remarks come in the wake of news that the European Parliament has suspended the accreditation of the Georgian broadcaster Imedi TV for one year. Simultaneously, Moldova denied accreditation to three Georgian TV channels without providing a formal explanation.
“When a certain parliamentarian claims that this is the result of his efforts, in reality, there is a force behind all of this that, for the past several years, has been trying in every possible way to damage our country’s interests. They are doing everything to bring the radical opposition group that exists in Georgia to power”, Kakhiani stated.
According to him, the European Parliament’s resolutions are based on “fake and perception-driven information”, while Imedi TV is working to deliver accurate information and ensure that “the truth reaches society”.
“As it appears, certain forces do not like this and are trying to hinder Imedi TV through such methods”, Kakhiani added.
