Levan Zhorzholiani, the head of the Georgian government administration, on Wednesday said transparency was a priority for the government, highlighting Georgia’s leading position in Europe with the Government Transparency Index.
In his remarks, Zhorzholiani noted this was the outcome of reforms and decisions made by the government.
“Transparency is a priority for us, and in this regard, Georgia is in a leading position in Europe according to this index. This is driven by the reforms and decisions adopted by the government. First of all, this concerns the public disclosure and publication of all government decrees, resolutions, and any official orders. Through this, we primarily safeguard against corruption risks. Any interested person can see what decisions the government is making and present their opinions regarding them”, he said.
The Alliance of Democracies Foundation has released its 2026 Democracy Perception Index (DPI), the world’s largest and most comprehensive annual study on how people perceive democracy. The report highlights significant achievements for Georgia, placing the country at the forefront of European transparency and democratic optimism.
According to the report, the Georgian government ranks first in Europe for transparency. Notably, Georgia is the only European nation where government transparency received an overall positive evaluation.
