As soon as the approaches change in Brussels itself, Mr. Fischer [German ambassador] and Mr. Herczyński [EU ambassador] will naturally have to adopt the exact same attitude, said on Saturday Levan Machavariani, the first deputy chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body.
Machavariani recalled Herczyński’s threatening statement that “Georgia will return to the dark ages” and noted that it is the Georgian Dream, under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili, that stands as the sole guarantor of peace and stability in the country - a fact he claims citizens fully realize.
Furthermore, Machavariani drew a parallel with the US administration and the US embassy in Georgia, noting that citizens are seeing how relations are improving with the new administration and, consequently, with the embassy.
“There are very positive signals. These positive signals have already moved into a specific working phase. We are expecting another [US] delegation in May, and there is a very optimistic mood regarding the restoration of a real strategic partnership. When the previous administration treated us just as unfairly as the current Eurocracy does, you remember well that their representatives in Georgia - the embassy - behaved exactly like Mr. Fischer and Mr. Herczyński are behaving now. However, the administration changed, and we have felt absolutely no negativity from the embassy; they haven't posted any [critical] social media cards or made any statements in a critical vein. As soon as the approaches change in Brussels itself, Mr. Fischer and Mr. Herczyński will naturally have to adopt the exact same attitude”, Machavariani noted.
