Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said it was important not only for Brussels but for all European capitals to clearly understand how Georgia views its future relations with the European Union.
In his remarks, Papuashvili stressed that aggressive rhetoric toward Georgia should come to an end and that such an approach undermines dialogue.
“Unfortunately, much of the information reaching various capitals passes through Brussels and is filtered there. I hope this message reaches everyone - it is important that aggressive rhetoric against the Georgian people and Georgia stops, as this is unacceptable. Harmful policies toward the Georgian people and Georgia must also end, as they are equally unacceptable and hinder any kind of dialogue”, he noted.
“All unjust resolutions, which the European Parliament adopts with what appears to be malicious enthusiasm against the Georgian people, should be revoked”, the speaker continued.
He further added that this was the path the Georgian side was offering.
“What other path do they envision? Do they seek to force Georgia into something through confrontation? Of course, with such approaches, it is impossible for them to claim that they are a European union. This is the path for the European Union to remain faithful to European values. Otherwise, the European Union will remain European in name only”, Papuashvili concluded.
