Productive cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe was discussed on Monday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Alain Berset, the secretary general of the Council of Europe, on the sidelines of the ongoing European Political Community summit in Yerevan.
Kobakhidze reaffirmed his government’s readiness for dialogue and its commitment to constructive engagement in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Georgian side expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of using international mechanisms for politically motivated purposes and voiced hope that such practices would change.
The discussion also highlighted the Georgian government’s commitment to protecting fundamental freedoms, advancing democratic reforms, and ensuring the rule of law.
