Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the domestic radical opposition no longer has the resources to communicate with the public, arguing that the situation is the result of both its time in power and its actions over the past years in opposition.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze stated that the opposition had “brought itself to this point” through its nine-year period in government and what he described as a 14-year track record while in opposition.
According to him, these experiences have shaped the current political reality in which the opposition lacks public support.
“We see that the radical opposition has no resources whatsoever, including the ability to communicate with the people. This is the overall situation that has developed within the radical opposition”, Kobakhidze said.
The prime minister also claimed that the opposition had not delivered positive outcomes for the country, while causing significant harm.
“They brought themselves to this point because they have done nothing good for this country, while they have done a lot of harm. Accordingly, they have no access to society”, Kobakhidze added.
