Georgian PM underscores political unity, praises Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili for national stability

Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday emphasised the critical role of political unity and the strategic leadership of the ruling Georgian Dream party’s founder Bidzina Ivanishvili in maintaining national stability.

Addressing team members, Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude for their resilience, particularly during what he described as a “wave of difficulties” following the 2020 elections and the onset of the war in Ukraine in 2022.

“We are successfully taking care of our country thanks to our unity. Our team is successful, and our team’s success brings success to our country. Without unity and standing together, of course, this success would not have been possible and would not have happened. For this, each of you deserves thanks”, he said.

The prime minister recalled what he described as particularly difficult periods, including political processes after the 2020 parliamentary elections and the impact of regional instability following the war in Ukraine in 2022.

“We have gone through very difficult years. Every year has been difficult since 2011, but especially after 2020 a new wave of difficulties began, and this is exactly where the unity of the team was needed. You remember the parliamentary elections, the Supreme Council elections, and the period that followed. We went through a very difficult struggle, there was enormous pressure on each of you, on each of us, but through unity we went through these processes with dignity. Then, when the war in Ukraine started after 2022, a new wave of difficulties came from there. Very difficult steps had to be taken, and ultimately, through our unity, we managed to take those steps with dignity and, in the end, we succeeded in bringing peace to our country”, he noted.

“Today, there is calm in the country, there is peace, the country is developing economically, and most importantly, we must preserve this achievement and develop it further. In addition to the unity of the team, of course, the role of leadership is extremely important”, Kobakhidze continued.

He stressed that Ivanishvili’s role deserved “special gratitude from each of us and from every citizen of our country”.

“I once again want to highlight the role of Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili in the achievements our team and our country have. It is often easier, when you look back, to reassess things more clearly. However, this is a case where even looking back, it is difficult to fully grasp everything - how this man planned everything, how he understood what was best for the country and the team”, the prime minister noted.

“It is precisely thanks to his exceptional and outstanding wisdom, his strategic thinking, that we managed to achieve success, and for this, Mr. Bidzina deserves special gratitude from each of us and from every citizen of our country”, Kobakhidze concluded.
