Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the first vice speaker of the parliament, on Tuesday characterised the outdated information regarding Georgian government officials on the German foreign ministry’s official website as a “political démarche” directed at the country.
The controversy stems from the fact that the German foreign office website has not been updated to reflect Georgia’s current leadership following the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.
“I think there is some basis for this, and that basis is demonstrated almost daily by the German ambassador to Georgia, who supports processes that do not imply the development of friendly or equal relations with the government”, Volski said.
