Rati Ionatamishvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s committee on human rights protection and civil integration, on Tuesday commented on the current state of the domestic opposition, stating that internal confrontation among opposition figures is likely to deepen further.
In his remarks, Ionatamishvili noted that the opposition was marked by hostility and mutual animosity, which, in his view, would continue to grow.
“Our society is very well aware that the opposition, which is immoral, is in fact driven by hatred toward one another. Naturally, this hatred and confrontation among them will deepen further. They sought to radicalise our country and ended up bringing that into their own ranks. Therefore, we are witnessing this natural outcome. They have earned being in this situation”, the official said.
