Speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece, Georgia's vice prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Maka Botchorishvili on Friday highlighted the security challenges facing the country, including Russia’s occupation of Georgian regions and the complex geopolitical environment.
“Despite the extremely difficult geopolitical environment, we have managed to maintain peace and stability in the country and protect democratic institutions amid numerous attacks. We have also ensured sustainable development, which means stable economic growth”, the minister said.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili stressed that Georgia continues to take relevant steps to build a solid foundation for European Union membership.
“We continue to work on development and reforms that are important for the country, in order to ultimately create a strong foundation for joining the European Union, which is the choice of Georgia and the Georgian people”, the minister concluded.
