Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the first vice speaker of the parliament, on Wednesday criticised EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, accusing her of taking an aggressive stance toward Georgia and aligning with what he described as an “anti-Georgian movement” led by Baltic officials.
Volski’s comments came in response to remarks by Kallas, who said that EU foreign ministers had delivered a clear message urging Georgia to change its course.
In his remarks, Volski criticised Kallas’s position as aggressive and also raised questions about her family’s past business activities, referring to claims related to her husband’s business ties in Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine.
“In recent times, Kaja Kallas has emerged as one of the leaders of what is called the anti-Georgian movement, which is mainly led by high-level representatives of the Baltic states”, he said.
“Kallas holds a rather aggressive position and wants to be a leader within this group, however she has not yet answered the question of what kind of business her husband was involved in after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which brought several million dollars in profit to their family”, Volski concluded.
