Marking the anniversary of the founding of the Georgian Dream party, the prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze released a statement reflecting on the country's progress, asserting that Georgia has transitioned into a "completely different reality" over the past 14 years.
In his message, Kobakhidze emphasised that the rule of law has been steadily strengthened, leading to a significant increase in public trust toward state institutions. He noted that under the current administration, the protection of human rights has evolved from a mere formality into a tangible reality.
“Today, fourteen years later, Georgia is living in a completely different reality - in a country where the rule of law has been gradually strengthened and public trust in institutions has significantly increased”, he said.
The prime minister further highlighted that during the period of the Georgian Dream party’s governance, the protection of human rights and freedoms has transformed from a formality into a reality, as state policy is focused on ensuring the inviolability of each citizen’s dignity and their security.
He also pointed to developments in the media landscape, describing it as more diverse and pluralistic, with multiple outlets operating freely and offering different editorial perspectives.
“The justice system has become transparent and independent, and the courts are oriented toward the rule of law and the protection of human rights. It is especially noteworthy that the protection of human rights and freedoms has turned from a formality into a reality, as state policy is focused on safeguarding the dignity and security of every citizen”, Kobakhidze noted.
“The media environment has become diverse and pluralistic - today, numerous television, online, and print outlets with different editorial policies operate freely in the country, ensuring access to information and the free expression of critical opinion”, he continued.
He further noted that law enforcement agencies now operate free from political influence, prioritising public safety rather than political objectives.
“Law enforcement structures have been freed from political influence and now serve the law and society. Their primary task is to ensure citizens’ safety, not to advance political interests. In the economic sphere, we have created a stable and predictable environment where businesses are protected and risks of pressure no longer exist. This contributes to increased investment and the development of the private sector, ultimately directly impacting the country’s economic growth”, Kobakhidze concluded.
