Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chair of the foreign relations committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Friday assessed the current state of regional affairs, noting that since the restoration of Georgia's independence, the country has never enjoyed such close political ties with its neighbours - Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
In his remarks, Samkharadze emphasised that the current stability in the region is a direct outcome of the coordinated and strategic policies pursued by these nations.
“While almost half of the world around us is engulfed in flames, there is peace in the Caucasus. This is precisely the merit of the wise policy that we - Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey - are conducting together. Since the restoration of independence, we have never had better and closer political relations with any of our neighboring countries - Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan - as we have today”, the official said.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by the Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili, is in Istanbul, participating in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
