The strengthening of bilateral cooperation in education and the implementation of joint initiatives were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian minister of education Givi Mikanadze, who is on an official visit to Washington, and Darren Beattie, the head of the bureau of educational and cultural affairs of the US department of state.
Mikanadze briefed Beattie on ongoing reforms in Georgia’s education system and planned initiatives within this framework.
The conversation also covered the Fulbright Program and support for its expansion. It was noted that the program provides Georgian students with valuable opportunities to receive high-quality education and apply the knowledge gained to the development of their country.
The meeting further emphasised the importance of cooperation between Georgian and American universities and joint dual-degree programs, which, according to Mikanadze, was particularly important in terms of improving human capital and the workforce in Georgia.
The parties expressed their willingness to deepen their partnership.
