Giorgi Kakhiani, the vice speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Friday warned against plans to incite a revolutionary scenario in the country. His comments come amid reports suggesting that opposition groups are undergoing training sessions led by international consultants.
In his remarks, Kakhiani emphasised that the country’s security apparatus is fully prepared to handle any attempts to bypass democratic processes.
“We remember five attempts at revolution in recent years that were supposed to take place according to the Ackerman manual. This time, when there is talk again about trainings, this is naturally information worth paying attention to”, he said.
The official stressed that if anyone seeks to change the government through revolutionary means, security services will respond accordingly.
“I would not advise anyone to think about changing the government in Georgia through revolutionary methods. But if such an idea still occurs to someone, state security services will provide an appropriate response”, he concluded.
Imedi TV on Thursday reported that the Georgian opposition is following a revolutionary scenario authored by Igor Blaževič, a prominent leader of the Prague Civil Society Centre.
