Levan Makhashvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European integration committee, on Friday issued a sharp warning to the opposition, stating that any attempts to orchestrate a “revolutionary scenario” are destined for political failure.
Makhashvili’s remarks came after Imedi TV on Thursday reported that the Georgian opposition is following a revolutionary scenario authored by Igor Blaževič, a prominent leader of the Prague Civil Society Centre.
The MP emphasised that the Georgian public has no appetite for radical shifts or destabilization.
“Today, there is no public demand for revolutionary scenarios. Anyone who attempts to implement such a scenario will receive an appropriate response”, Makhashvili said.
He further added that political actors who have previously been unable to draw conclusions from their past actions have repeatedly “hurt themselves politically”, suggesting that the same outcome is likely again.
