Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday addressed recent reports regarding alleged revolutionary plots, stating that information linking foreign consultants to opposition strategies is “nothing new”.
Kaladze's comments follow a report by Imedi TV, which claimed that Igor Blaževič, a leader of the Prague Civil Society Centre, is currently drafting a “revolutionary scenario” for the Georgian opposition.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that external forces have been attempting for years to organise a change of government in Georgia through various methods. He emphasised that it is important for the public to make a correct assessment of ongoing political developments.
“We should not be surprised. We know the attitudes toward Georgia - for years, substantial funds have been spent to organise a coup from abroad, to create confrontation in society and deepen polarisation. These efforts have not stopped. They previously followed Ackerman’s book and external instructions”, he said.
“We have seen multiple attempts at revolution, although the majority of our citizens clearly understands what processes are underway, who the real enemy of our country is, and what interests are at play regarding Georgia. Therefore, it is crucial that the public closely observes developments and has accurate information”, Kaladze concluded.
