Tsotne Ananidze, the chair of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, on Monday commented on the Hungarian elections, saying their outcome should serve as a political lesson for what he described as an externally driven opposition, in reference to the domestic opposition forces.
Ananidze emphasised that electoral outcomes are determined by domestic voters rather than international influence or backing. He argued that the Hungarian experience serves as a reminder that political legitimacy stems solely from the will of the people.
“Another political lesson from Hungary for the externally managed opposition: the fate of the government is only in the hands of the people and not foreign support. The reality is that the opposition in Georgia does not have the trust and support of the people - and no amount of external interference can change this given fact”, he concluded.
