Georgia is confronting the same fundamental challenges as the rest of the world - maintaining peace, ensuring economic stability, and pursuing development amid an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, said on Thursday Irakli Kirtskhalia, the chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body.
Speaking on the political talk show Imedi Live, Kirtskhalia stressed that the Georgian government would act in accordance with the country’s best interests.
“The global political architecture is changing. All alliances and unions are facing significant challenges - some even questioning their very existence. When we talk about the challenges facing our country, we must acknowledge that we are still confronting existential threats”, the official said.
He emphasised that in the current international climate, marked by widespread instability, even a single misstep could have severe consequences for Georgia.
“One wrong step on our part at a time like this - when the strongest alliances, whether military or economic, are under enormous question, and when much of this hemisphere is engulfed in turmoil - would, of course, amount to the destruction of our country”, he concluded.
