Levan Makhashvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European integration committee, on Tuesday said the phone conversation between Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze and US secretary of state Marco Rubio was truly significant in terms of its content.
In his remarks, Makhashvili noted that the Georgian government is now awaiting further steps aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
“A very substantive conversation took place. In general, regarding bilateral relations, this represents an important milestone. On the other hand, the public is well aware that we expect more, and we expect it more promptly. We hope that this call will also accelerate U.S. plans to revitalize its relationship with Georgia. Hopefully, in the near future, we will be able to take more concrete political steps”, Makhashvili noted.
Kobakhidze on Monday highlighted a productive phone call with US secretary of state Marco Rubio.
As Kobakhidze noted in a social media message, the conversation emphasised the importance of resetting partnership and reinforcing Georgia’s role as a strong partner in the South Caucasus region.
