Archil Gorduladze, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s legal affairs committee, on Monday claimed a coordinated and deliberate campaign was underway to undermine the Georgian Orthodox Church.
In his remarks, Gorduladze noted that these efforts were not homegrown but were being orchestrated and funded from abroad.
“There are forces in Georgia that are financed and managed from abroad. For decades, their goal has been the collapse of the Georgian Church, as they want to ensure no institution exists in this country that the people listen to and trust”, he said.
