Irakli Kadagishvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s regional policy and self-government committee, on Tuesday said that certain political forces in Brussels were attempting to influence Georgia’s political direction, but lacked the ability to turn their vision into reality.
In his remarks, Kadagishvili noted that statements coming from some European political circles serve dual purposes - applying pressure on the Georgian government and providing political support to opposition groups within the country.
“Unfortunately, there are political forces in Brussels that have their own vision of who should be in power in Georgia and what the policies of the Georgian government should be, but they are unable to implement it. Therefore, their statements often remain without real effect”, he said.
“At the same time, there is a difference between what they want and promote regarding Georgia and the actual reality. It is not easy for them to ignore or set aside this reality altogether”, Kadagishvili concluded.
