Georgian President confirms Patriarch Ilia II in ICU, calls for prayers for recovery

Georgian president Mikheil Kavelashvili, accompanied by his wife Tamar Bagrationi, on Tuesday visited the Caucasus Medical Center to check on the health of the Georgian Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.

Speaking after the visit, Kavelashvili stated that His Holiness is currently in the intensive care unit, receiving intensive treatment.

“Our Most Holy and Blessed Patriarch is in the intensive care unit. The situation is difficult, but intensive treatment is underway. We must remain hopeful and pray that everything will turn out well, that the Patriarch will recover and return to us”, the president said.

Due to health complications, Ilia II is currently under medical supervision at the Caucasus Medical Center. His condition worsened overnight.
