Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said his government does not intend to revise its legislation regarding transparency or family values, citing a lack of substantive arguments from critics.
Kobakhidze’s remarks came as a response to a recent report on Georgia prepared under the OSCE’s Moscow Mechanism. He dismissed several aspects of the report, labeling them as “based on lies”.
“When it comes to practical shortcomings identified in the elections, it is natural that we should continue to work on this constantly. As for the prevention of misconduct, this is also something that we should constantly work on. This is our responsibility. As for other issues that are based on lies, for example, the term torture is used when the author [of the report] states that torture has not been established anywhere. This has no value”, the PM said.
“As for the legislation on transparency, family values, naturally, we are not going to revise the legislation here either, based on the fact that the criticism is not based on any arguments. No such arguments have been presented at all”, he concluded.
