A total of 32 member states of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) did not support the report prepared on Georgia under the OSCE Moscow Mechanism.
According to available information, the same 32 countries also did not join the statement published on Thursday regarding the issue.
The document includes a list of countries that supported both the activation of the Moscow Mechanism concerning Georgia and the report prepared afterwards.
It is noteworthy that several OSCE participating states did not back the mechanism and the subsequent report. These include the United States, France, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia, Romania, Malta, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The report issued under the OSCE Moscow Mechanism calls on the Georgian authorities to repeal several laws, including legislation on transparency and the protection of family values. It also recommends abolishing provisions related to foreign grants in the law on grants, revoking amendments to the law on broadcasting that concern foreign funding and content restrictions, and scrapping the so-called Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA)-style requirements.
