Levan Makhashvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European integration committee, on Thursday said the positive dynamics in relations with the United States was evident.
In his interview with Imed TV, Makhashvili summarised the recent visit of the Georgian parliamentary delegation to the United States, emphasising that the trip aimed to restart and strengthen bilateral relations.
“In fact, today we are rebuilding bilateral relations [with the US], and the main essence of [the Georgian parliamentary delegation’s ] visit [to Washington] was precisely this, to say what we have to say, to show our position. If some people were spreading lies and disinformation here, this is what was being discussed, what was actually happening. We also want to hear from the Americans how they see these processes and imagine a reboot of relations. In this regard, it was a good visit. Our delegation will return, we will have internal discussions, what further steps can be taken in this direction”, Makhashvili said.
“The positive dynamics are evident. The public has been seeing positive dynamics in various sectors, in various directions for several months now, and despite attempts to damage this process and make it fail from the outset, we will successfully see it through to the end”, he concluded.
