With Georgia’s support, trilateral trade and cooperation between Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan have deepened, said on Wednesday the Armenian prime minister Nikol Pashinyan following the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, co-chaired by the prime ministers of Georgia and Armenia.
In his remarks, Pashinyan noted that peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan significantly improves the overall environment in the region.
“With Georgia’s support, trilateral trade and relations between Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan have intensified. Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan certainly enhances the climate in our region”, the Armenian PM said.
During the session, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Pashinyan discussed the positive dynamics of cooperation across various sectors and future prospects for expanding the partnership.
Pashinyan noted that since Armenia gained independence, trains from Georgia have been operating to Armenia, expressing hope that railway connections will further increase trade turnover.
“Your support in this matter is invaluable”, he said, addressing the Georgian side.
The Armenian prime minister also reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence.
“The historic relationship between our peoples is very good and positive. This is an essential and important value”, Pashinyan emphasised.
Kobakhidze highlighted the strategic partnership with Armenia, the growing cooperation between the two countries, and the importance of maintaining stability in the region. He noted that Armenia consistently ranks among Georgia’s top ten trading partners and is among the top three countries in terms of visitor numbers to Georgia.
Pashinyan, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Georgian prime minister for Georgia’s consistent support of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and underscored the positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries.
