Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday criticised the United Kingdom’s government, describing it as a minority administration that lacks the trust of its own citizens.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that only 17% of the British public supports the country’s prime minister, while 83% do not trust the government.
“The British prime minister is destroying the relationship with his own people. He has a 17% approval rating among his own citizens, so today we are being addressed by a British government that is a minority government, which the majority of its own people - 83% - do not trust. And this low-trust government thinks it can review a three-hour broadcast of POSTV and draw conclusions from it”, the speaker said.
“He cannot even draw conclusions about his own people. So, this is once again a continuous process of moving toward the civilization that Europe has chosen in various forms - something that the US and we have been talking about for quite a while now - and it would be better if they listened to us”, Papuashvili concluded.
