Georgia Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday issued a sharp critique of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leadership, stating that while Georgia stands with the Ukrainian people, its political leadership has proven “ungrateful”.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that Zelenskyy showed no gratitude either toward the United States or Georgia.
“We support the Ukrainian people. However, neither Zelenskyy nor Brussels deserves our support. These are ungrateful people. He is generally an ungrateful person. I’m not the first one to say this; the US president said it first - that he should show a little gratitude. Zelenskyy shows no gratitude toward either the US or Georgia”, the speaker said.
He reminded the public of the time Ukraine recalled its ambassador from Tbilisi, criticising the decision and suggesting it was a reaction to Georgia's refusal to send citizens to “fight and die” in the conflict.
Papuashvili also emphasised that the final judgment of Zelenskyy would be delivered by the Ukrainian people themselves.
