Levan Machavariani, the first deputy chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Sunday highlighted strong alignment between Georgia and the United States, not only in terms of shared values but also in political perspectives.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Machavariani emphasised that statements from the US carry much more weight when they address the policies of non-governmental organizations.
“We have discussed this issue multiple times. Unfortunately, we have faced this problem firsthand. A good example is the Venice Commission - and not only it, many organizations are used as political instruments. It carries much more significance when the United States speaks on this matter. It is very pleasing that our views are in absolute agreement - not only in terms of values but also politically. The United States repeats, word for word, the messages that have come from us”, Machavariani said.
