Georgia’s ruling party official: Georgian Dream will continue governing on right path

Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Tuesday said that Georgian Dream would continue pursuing the political course that, according to him, has been repeatedly mandated by Georgian society.

Speaking on Rustavi 2’s program Debates, Kirtskhalia expressed hope that the public closely followed the discussion and that a meaningful debate took place, allowing all sides to voice their opinions.

“From our side, I can say one thing: the Georgian Dream will continue the policy that our society has entrusted to it for the tenth time - this is governing our country on the right path and with the right outlooks”, he noted.

Kirtskhalia emphasised dignity, the protection of sovereignty, and the preservation of national identity, stressing that joining any alliance should not come at the cost of a country’s identity or dignity.

“We often hear the word ‘pragmatic’. Yes, pragmatism is when you speak and dare to do so - when you are already at a level where you can engage with everyone, your friends and partners, on an equal footing. It is when you do everything, and do the maximum, to ensure your country is prepared and resilient in such a turbulent situation; to pursue a path that brings the prosperity each of our citizens experiences today”, the official said.

“Once again, we will move forward solely with dignity, protecting our sovereignty and identity - this is the mandate. Relations, joining any alliance, or forming partnerships must be based exclusively on dignity and parity - this is the starting point”, Kirtskhalia concluded.
