Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday commented on the recent visit of Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Head of Georgia’s State Security Service, to the United States, stating that the trip focused on cooperation between the security agencies of the two countries.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration in order to ensure the implementation of both countries’ security interests, especially considering the challenges facing the region.
“We have said before that professional cooperation between various institutions continues. You can also see the statement issued by the State Security Service. Of course, this was an issue related to cooperation in the security field. For us, cooperation between the security services of the United States and Georgia is important in light of today’s global challenges and the policy pursued by the United States to prevent conflicts and ensure peaceful development. Therefore, professional and official relations are certainly important”, the Speaker said.
Mdinaradze was on a working visit to the United States from Saturday to Tuesday. He visited the United States at the invitation of his American counterparts. The meeting focused on security matters.
