Transparency International released the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), showing that Georgia stands out with a strong performance.
The Index reveals that corruption continues to be a serious issue across most countries worldwide, despite some signs of progress.
The Index assesses 182 countries and highlights ongoing concerns about weak governance and accountability in many regions.
According to the report, the global average CPI score has dropped to 42 points, marking the lowest result in recent years. This decline signals that global efforts to combat corruption are still facing major obstacles.
The findings show that more than two-thirds of the countries scored below 50, indicating that corruption remains systemic and deeply rooted in many states. Transparency International notes that only 31 countries have achieved significant improvement since 2012, while the situation in most others has either remained unchanged or worsened.
In this context, Georgia stands out with a comparatively strong performance. The country ranks ahead of seven European Union member states, all EU candidate countries, and ten NATO member states, placing Georgia among the better-performing countries in the region in terms of perceived corruption levels.
