Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Monday called on the European Union to prioritise deeper ties with Georgia rather than Ukraine, citing security and economic concerns regarding Kyiv.
The remarks were made during a joint press conference in Budapest following a meeting with his Georgian counterpart, Maka Botchorishvili.
Szijjártó argued that Georgia’s integration path offers a more stable outlook for the bloc compared to Ukraine's current situation.
“We must consider closer cooperation with Georgia rather than Ukraine. Unlike Georgia, Ukraine would not only weaken the European Union but also pose a threat to it in the form of war, the mafia, and the supply of low-quality grain”, the Hungarian FM said.
