Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said that protecting Georgia’s constitutional system was a constitutional obligation of the state and that legislative measures must respond to any challenges threatening its proper functioning.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that safeguarding the constitutional system was essential for the stability and proper functioning of the state.
“As for the issue of non-recognition, we have our constitutional interest in safeguarding the constitutional system. If there are challenges in this area, legislation must naturally take care of resolving the relevant problems”, he said.
“In this regard, I would call on the Parliament of Georgia to adopt an appropriate law to counter this problem. This is important to ensure that the constitutional system functions properly in Georgia. My wish would be for Parliament to adopt this law as soon as possible; the rest is for Parliament to decide”, the Prime Minister concluded.
