Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said his Government had clearly expressed its strong desire to renew the strategic partnership with the United States and was awaiting reciprocal steps from the American side.
Kobakhidze made the remarks while responding to journalists’ questions regarding Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s meeting with US Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“For us, it is important that this communication has taken place. We have clearly expressed a very strong desire to renew the strategic partnership with the United States, and we want this partnership to be renewed from a clean slate and with a concrete roadmap that reflects the interests and principles of both sides. We are patiently awaiting reciprocal steps in this direction”, he said.
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili attended an official reception hosted by the President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry.
During the event, President Kavelashvili and Minister Botchorishvili met with leaders from various countries, including US Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
