Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said active steps and meetings were underway to restore and reset strategic relations between Georgia and the United States.
Kaladze made these remarks while commenting on the recent visit of Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia to the US Department of State, emphasising that the Georgian Government was eager to turn a new page in its diplomatic ties with Washington.
“Our position is well known. We have repeatedly stated that we are ready to restore strategic partnership, reset relations, and start a new chapter, because what happened under President Biden’s administration went beyond any friendly relations or attitudes”, the ruling party official said.
“As for resetting relations, let’s wait. The process is underway, and meetings have taken place. We are ready for this. Of course, once it happens, it will impact the relations and our country’s standing”, Kaladze concluded.
