Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday highlighted the importance of giving an international assessment to the situation that had been created in the European bureaucracy in terms of interference in elections.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze recalled the interference of the European bureaucracy in the 2024 Georgian parliamentary elections, assessing it as a very rude practice that must be corrected.
“It is important when an international assessment is given to the specific situation that has been created in the European bureaucracy, specifically in terms of interference in elections. The Georgian public has had information about this for a long time. Everyone saw with their own eyes how the European bureaucracy interfered in the 2024 [parliamentary] elections. Also, in 2020-2021, how it interfered in the process of non-recognition of elections. This is a very rude practice that must be corrected”, the PM said.
He further emphasised Europe's setback in the level of democracy and rule of law.
“At one time, Europe was distinguished by a high degree of democracy and the rule of law, and appropriate principles were observed. Today, there is a serious setback in all directions, which is emphasized in the American document”, he concluded.
